Afrobeat star Seun Kuti's detention has been extended for an additional four days, as ordered by the Sabo-Yaba Chief Magistrates' Court in Lagos
The Chief Magistrate, Adeola Olatubosun, approved the motion for extension, prolonging Kuti's confinement until May 23, 2023 Seun Kuti is charged with assaulting a police officer.

A Sabo-Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos approved a request to prolong Seun Kuti’s remand for an extra four days.
This recent development took place on Thursday, May 18, 2023.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Adeola Olatubosun, extended Kuti's remand until May 22.
Mr. Simon Lough (SAN) filed the application, and he was joined in court by a number of police attorneys.
He believes that the elongation is necessary to allow for more case-specific research.
Kuti is suspected of assaulting a police officer, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He reportedly committed the crime on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State on May 13.
He was accused of slapping an inspector after driving recklessly on the bridge and purposefully impeding a moving police car.
