Major General Farouk Yahaya Résumé: Details of the newly appointed COAS

The presidency has released the résumé of the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff, Major General Farouk Yahaya.

According to the CV released by the presidency, the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff was born on January 5th, 1966 in Sifawa, Bodinga local government area, Sokoto state.

He also has a Bachelor of Art in History and a Master degree in International Affairs and diplomacy. He speaks four languages which includes; English, Hausa, Arabic and Spanish.

Prior to his appointment Major General Yahaya was the General Officer Commanding Division of the Nigerian Army. He was the Theatre Commander of the counter-terrorism military outfit in the North East code-named Operation HADIN KAI.

He also served as Military Secretary (MS) Army at Army headquarters in Abuja before his appointment as GOC 1 division in Kaduna. He is also a member of the Regular Combatant Course 37.

Major General Yahaya is also the third Chief of Army Staff appointed by President Buhari since his election. The COAS is married with four children.
