Salisu set to drop Okpotu for Nura Ibrahim
.To ring changes against Equatorial Guinea. All players fit to play super Eagles head coach, Salisu Yusuf has hinted that El Kanemi Warriors striker Nura Ibrahim may start ahead of Lobi Star forward Anthony Okpotu in Tuesday’s game against Equatorial Guinea in the African Nations Championship at the multi‑use stadium, Agadir, Morocco.
Salisu has been using the same set of players to prosecute games against Rwanda and Libya but he revealed at the press conference on Monday that he may make one or two changes to his starting line up against Equatorial Guinea.
Okpotu, who was the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) highest goal scorer last season, has been struggling to find the back of the net in the ongoing CHAN tournament in Morocco. “We have the combination of old and new players in this tournament and it has been helpful for us.
It was not a gamble when I included Sunday Faleye, Nura Ibrahim and Ibrahim Mustapha to the team list, also the experiences of Rabiu Ali, Kalu Orji and Anthony Okpotu have been helpful to the team. Although, Rabiu and Orji are doing fine while Okpotu has been struggling but he didwhat we asked him to do in the game against Libya. There are might be one or two changes in the game against Equitorial Guinea. So anybody can start tomorrow (Tuesday),” Salisu said to SportingLife.
The former Kano Pillars coach also said that all his players are fit to play on Tuesday, except Peter Moses Eneji, who has been nursing injury from the beginning of the competition.
