We have some Captain Marvel goodness to help everyone ring in the new year the right way. As 2018 comes to a close, Marvel fans are looking toward the future.

source: extraimage.infoWhile we know that [v]Avengers: Endgame[/v] is barreling down the tracks to bring Thanos back for another round of Universe-sprawling, high-stakes comic book movie craziness, we’re also going to be introduced to a new hero in 2019 in the form of Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel. Now, we’ve got a bit of new footage and an epic new motion poster to help tee up her forthcoming solo movie.

The TV spot, titled Climb, features a good deal of footage that has been revealed in the previous trailer. But there are a few choice bits of new footage, such as the go-kart riding and the big top carnival tent. We also get some pretty cool voiceover from Annette Bening’s character to help set the tone. Much like the previous trailers, this spot plays up the fact that Carol Danvers is wrestling with her past on Earth, while also trying to stop a war involving the shape-shifting Skrulls.

As for the motion poster, it features a few quick cuts of Brie Larson in character with the words "higher, further, faster" in what almost seems like an ode to The Six Million Dollar Man or The Bionic Woman. We then see a little bit of the character in space with her mohawk before arriving at the conclusive and heroic still of the recent Oscar-winner as Marvel’s latest hero. And not just any hero. This is going to be the first female-led solo movie within the MCU, making it a very significant entry. It only took them 20 movies to get there, but better late than never.

This also marks another first for the MCU, as Captain Marvel is the first movie in the franchise’s history to have a female director. Anna Boden co-directed the movie along with Ryan Fleck. The cast includes Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, Jude Law, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace and, for the first time since The Avengers in 2012, Clark Gregg will appear on the big screen once again as Agent Phil Coulson. That is being made possible, in part, since this particular movie takes place in the 90s.

Captain Marvel was already teased in the post-credit scene from Infinity War, which sees Nick Fury sending out a distress signal to the hero before being turned to dust. So, we’re guessing that she’s also going to be showing up in Avengers: Endgame, but first, we’ve got to watch her take down the Skrulls and destroy at least one Blockbuster Video.
